PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT ON EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE

The Puntland Ministry of Health is issuing a public health alert following reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the Ebola outbreak reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda.

WHO has stated that the Ebola outbreak requires increased public health awareness and preparedness to prevent further spread of the disease.

The Ministry clarifies that this notice is for public awareness and preparedness purposes only. There are currently no reported Ebola cases in Puntland or Somalia.

Common symptoms of Ebola may include:

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Fatigue and muscle pain
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Bleeding in severe cases

The public is advised to:

  • Maintain proper hand hygiene
  • Avoid contact with suspected infected individuals
  • Immediately report any suspected Ebola symptoms

The Puntland Ministry of Health continues to closely monitor the situation in coordination with WHO and health partners.
