On 25th April ,2026#World Malaria Day, we celeberated both achievements and the significant decline in malaria cases over recent years.

Malaria cases in puntland had rised sharply between 2014-2019 ,reaching a peak in 2017 with 12,378 cases reported ,however,by 2025,the number of cases had dramatically reduced to only 373 reported, this downward trend contuniues in 2026 ,with only 127 cases reported from january to march .

This is encouraging news and clear indicating that malaria has been substantially reduced and malaria program in puntland state, Somalia remains fully commited to eliminating malaria completely and achieving malaria elimination status.
